Foot Pain and Fibromyalgia?

Does anyone else experience foot pains with their fibro? That was actually one of my first symptoms. It feels like I am walking on hot glass. I have not found a lot of research on this associated with fibromyalgia. I think in some places they say it is Planter Fasciitis as a co-illness. I have been able to gain some comfort by adjusting some things:

1.) I bought a LAZY BOY CHAIR, and I love it! It really helps to be able to lean back and put my feet up and take the strain off of them.

2.) I have invested in a couple GOOD, SUPPORTIVE SHOES, I bought them from FootSmart.com, and the have some really cute AND comfy shoes!! I am quite happy with them! Still stylish AND my feet feel like walking on clouds instead of hot glass!

3.) I bought a Paraffin HOT WAX BATH ($30 at Bed Bath & Beyond, plus use ur 20% off coupon!) Homedics has a good one. When my feet really hurt I dip them in the hot wax 4 times or so, if feels sooooo good on my aching feet!

4.) I watch my daily activities and LIMIT MY STANDING. Anything over 5 minutes and I know I will encounter lasting pain.

I hope this helps. Has anyone else experienced foot pains with their fibro? And how to you treat it?

  1. The Lazy Boy recliner and hot wax bath sound like great ideas as well as new comfy shoes. Shoe shopping, what fun!

I have pain in different parts of my body but, not in my feet.

  2. Yes, I find my foot pain strange. In fact my initial symptoms of fibro were kicked off by extreme foot pain and extreme mouth/gum pains, and in all my fibromyalgia reading and research I have have found very little if any reference to these symptoms, and to this day, aside from fatigue, those still remain my worst pains to deal with. I can't even find other fibros who have these symptoms! Sometimes it makes me question my fibromyalgia diagnosis.

  3. I can understand why you question your Fibromyalgia diagnosis. Have you been tested for other chronic illnesses?

  4. Yes, my rheumo did a million tests on me, and pretty much ruled everything out, concluding it must be fibro. I took all these test results to 3 other rheumo docs too and got the same, must be fibro. Then I ran out of energy :) I am hoping my own research will help guide me.

  5. It sounds like you have been through a lot too.

Several years after my diagnosis I searched for another answer because I thought there was no way all of my symptoms were from Fibromyalgia; as it turns out they are.

  6. I thought I was the only one! I finally got gel insoles for shoes but after I stand for awhile or even if I'm off of my feet for awhile, when I get up it starts all over again.

  7. Wow I thought I was the only one too! I should look into insoles too.

  8. Oh, do my feet hurt! One of the many reasons that I'm happy about Spring being here is that my toes can be set free again. :) I can't tolerate tight shoes or even the seams in the toes of socks.

Even worse than my feet, though, is the dang pain in my hands, which almost never goes away. It's strange... not joint pain. It's an electrical feeling on the palm-side.

Both my hands and feet now get mildly swelly-- a new, unwelcome symptom. Makes me feel so much older than I actually am!

Today's my first visit to your blog. So much great info! Thank you for sharing it.

  10. i have foot pain, and have been wearing MBT shoes that help but really are not that attractive and Naot shoes- more attractive. i have been to several foot dr.s and they do not know why my foot hurts so much ( i am getting tired of the medical profession not knowing why so often) hot wax was pretty helpful. glad i found your blog- even though i missed the convo by about a year

  11. Just a bunch - I'm glad u found this blog, you're never too late! My feet hurt so much too, I gave up on doctors. The hot wax really help me too. I've been able to find some good comfortable yet cute shoes via footsmart.com -- check out the reviews, those help me best, www.barkingdogshoes.com -- a blog with shoe reviews for fussy feet, and on chronicbabe.com there is a forum that shares a lot of info and tips.
